A History of Adams International's
30 years of focus on Quality and Reliability
Adams International Ltd. was formed in 1969 as a joint venture between
W. A. Adams and Chung Cheong Holding. Adams International became
associated with the Standard Commercial Group when Standard bought
W.A. Adams in 1992.The Company started exporting tobacco in 1974
and today regularly exports 4,000 to 5,000 tons of Oriental leaf every
year to Europe, Eastern Europe, USA, the Middle East, Asia and
Australasia. Adams supplies the world's top cigarette manufacturers,
including Chine National Tobacco Corporation (1,600 billion p.a.),
Philip Morris (950 billion), British American Tobacco (800 billion)
and R.J.Reynolds Tobacco (~500 billion). The company is well placed
to export worldwide, an alternative to Greece and Turkey's Oriental
crop and in the future to take advantage of the AFTA agreements which
will come into force in 2002.
The crop consists entirely of the Basma variety of Oriental tobacco, which is grown exclusively by
Adams International's own network of contract farmer families throughout
northeast Thailand.
